But whispers
It’s New Year’s Day 2026 and we’re enjoying the peace and tranquillity. No visitors, just silence and time for ourselves.
It is quite cold, but we can still do some odd jobs outside. Rob is looking forward to it! We are working at a leisurely pace on the new mezzanine. It will be a sturdy wooden floor, which will serve as a private entrance to the guest house, and also be an outdoor terrace for our guests with a beautiful view.
Leonardo Da Vinci
Just before Christmas, we spent two days sightseeing in the Loire region. Visiting Blois and Amboise had been on our wish list for quite some time, so we decided to go for it. Leonardo Da Vinci spent the last three years of his life in Le Clos Lucé in Amboise. It was an inspiring visit! When we got home, Rob knew how to make his own lifting machine with pulleys, so that he could easily put the heavy beams for the mezzanine in place without any further help. And it worked fantastically!

Focus
With focus, enjoyment, and care, the beams were neatly placed in position. Half of the total surface area is now ready for the floorboards to be laid. And this is also the next step, so it couldn’t be better.

The joy is palpable, because everything is going so well! But then something happens that feels like “becoming overconfident” and, above all, “not taking the whispering of your little voice seriously”.
Just one stair step
Rob decides to lay a large OSB floorboard on the beams and then lay the planking from there. The floorboard is too big for the lifting machine, so he decides to carry it up the ladder under his arm.
A little voice whispered that this wasn’t a good idea. But he did it anyway.
It all happened very quickly: in a nanosecond, on the first step, he fell straight onto his bottom on the concrete floor. Ouch!
The body is screaming
After the whispering of the Soul, which was heard but not listened to, his body screamed in pain. At great effort, he was able to get up and go inside to rest and reflect for the following 11 days. It is fortunate that it is now healing with “only” painkillers and plenty of rest.
Why whisper?
In our era, we are challenged more than ever to listen to our inner voice, our gut feeling, or whatever you want to call it. Our head listens to programs, everything it hears repeatedly. If we hear the same thing often enough, with those ears on the sides of our head, we believe it. Even if it is not true. Our heart (Soul or inner voice) resonates with truth and makes itself heard at crucial moments. Ignoring our inner voice has consequences. If we are willing to listen to the whisper more often, our inner voice will come to the fore. Then we will live from a different, higher consciousness. We were still exercising, but the time is ripe and we are ready:
Being Consciousness.
